Shayla Farzana at the Center of Controversy Over Corruption and Misconduct: Government Sends Her into Forced Retirement and Makes Her OSD

Shayla Farzana, a 17th batch officer of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Administration Cadre and the Secretary General of the BCS Women’s Network, has recently become the center of controversy. She is facing allegations of misconduct, corruption, and abuse of power, which have sparked discussion within administrative circles.

✅ OSD and Forced Retirement

On September 7, 2024, the government transferred her to the position of Officer on Special Duty (OSD). Later, on February 20, 2025, she was sent into forced retirement under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018.

🔍 Allegations and Controversies

She has been accused of mistreating fellow officers who were denied promotions and allegedly locking them in her office. In addition, her husband, former Additional Inspector General of Police and head of the Special Branch (SB), Monirul Islam, was also sent into forced retirement by the government.
