MP Ramesh’s income has increased by 8,000 times, and he has accumulated a mountain of illegal assets, both in his name and under other names.

In the last 10 years, the income of Ramesh Chandra Sen, the Member of Parliament for Thakurgaon-1, has increased by 8,639 times. In 2014, he had 359 taka, and by 2023, it had risen to 3 crore 10 lakh 1 thousand 497 taka. This information was revealed from his election affidavits for the last three elections. From 2009 to 2014, Ramesh Chandra Sen served as the Minister of Water Resources in the Bangladesh government. He was first elected as an MP from Thakurgaon-1 in a by-election in 1997, and then won again in 2008, 2014, 2018, and 2024.

After the fall of the fascist Awami League government, MP Ramesh Sen went to jail, but his second wife, Mukta Rani, fled with all the family members and is still absconding. Mukta Rani, who went from being a maid to owning hundreds of crores of taka, is known as the “second wife” of the minister. Although Mukta Rani is on the run, there has been no disruption in the supply of food to the Thakurgaon 250-bed General Hospital. In the previous government, MP Ramesh Chandra Sen gave the food supply contract for the fiscal year 2021-22 to a contractor named Limon Construction from Bogura, allegedly through his second wife Mukta Rani. The work order was issued on June 12, 2022, and the tender is still ongoing.

Ramesh Chandra Sen, the former MP and former Minister of Water Resources for Thakurgaon-1, faces numerous allegations of recruitment trade, hospital syndicates, and awarding tenders. He has established a monopoly in his district and misused his power extensively. Through various crimes and corrupt practices, he and his family have accumulated a mountain of assets, both in their own names and under other names. While in power, whenever information about his corruption and misdeeds was about to be published, journalists were threatened and intimidated to silence them.
