BA-4323, Major General Mohammad Jahangir Alam, 26th Long Course, is the current DG of DGFI and the former GOC of the 33rd Division in Comilla. He is a member of the Awami League family. On August 4, 2024, when Awami League and Chhatra League terrorists opened fire on students at the main gate of Comilla Cantonment, he did not allow the army to take any action. On September 5, 2024, he refused to grant permission for the arrest of the president of the Metropolitan Chhatra League by the 23rd Battalion. This notorious general, loyal to the fascist Awami League, was suddenly appointed as the DG of DGFI in October 2024. After joining, he arrested two retired Navy officers and four other personnel through DGFI and RAB, handing them over to the Dhaka Cantonment Police Station. However, under pressure from the retired officers, he was forced to release the detainees. He is still active in fulfilling the objectives of the fascist regime. He is currently working to protect DGFI officers involved in extrajudicial killings, disappearances, and other crimes like “mirror rooms.” A staunch fascist Awami League supporter and a strong opponent of the current interim government, he is still involved in plotting to bring the autocrat Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh. As part of the rehabilitation of Awami League loyalists and traitors, he is still serving in the army.
