Corruption Syndicate in the Ministry of Home Affairs: Deputy Secretary Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman and Top Officials Accused of Misconduct

Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman, who served as a Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, is accused of corruption and misconduct. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started an investigation against him and some of his colleagues. The investigation also includes former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Joint Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das, Assistant Private Secretary Monir Hossain, Public Relations Officer Sharif Mahmud Apu, Administrative Officer Molla Ibrahim Hossain, Joint Secretary Abul Fazal Mir, Joint Secretary Mohammad Hossain, and several others.

They are accused of forming a syndicate to take bribes, illegally amassing wealth, and engaging in irregularities in the ministry’s operations. The ACC has already frozen the bank accounts of the former Home Minister and his family. The investigation is being led by ACC Deputy Director Md. Jahangir Alam, who will verify the truth of these allegations.

Such corruption and misconduct weaken public trust in the country’s administrative system. To protect the country, there must be transparency, accountability, and a culture of ethics in the administration. Along with the government, citizens also need to be aware and actively take part in ensuring integrity.
