Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali is a prominent politician, diplomat, and economist. He was a member of the 10th National Parliament and served as Bangladesh’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from February 2014. Before that, he was the Minister of Disaster Management and Relief. He was recently elected as the representative of Dinajpur-4 in the 12th National Election. On January 7, 2024, he was re-elected from Dinajpur-4 and took on the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance.

Abul Hasan joined the Awami League in 2001 and was elected a member of the party’s Election Management Committee. In 2002, he became a member of the Central Advisory Committee. Later, he was appointed as the co-chairman of the Awami League’s International Affairs Subcommittee.

Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali was the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the 9th National Parliament. He then took over the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on September 13, 2012, and served as the minister until September 16, 2013.

A murder case has been filed against 39 individuals, including Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali, the former Member of Parliament and former Finance Minister of Dinajpur-4 (Khanjoma-Chirirbandar), and 300-400 unnamed Awami League members in connection with the killing of a Shibir worker in Chirirbandar, Dinajpur.
