Sharif Mahmud Apu, who served as the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs for a long period, has been accused of multiple cases of misconduct and corruption.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against him for accumulating assets worth 58 lakh 99 thousand 997 taka beyond his known income. Additionally, he has been accused of accepting bribes for transferring police officers, including SPs, OCs, and SI officers. In exchange for these transfers, he allegedly received between 10 to 20 lakh taka from the ministers and their family members. A part of this money was reportedly handed over to the minister’s son or wife.
Further allegations suggest that Apu helped over fifty businessmen acquire arms licenses. He is also accused of amassing wealth through illegal means, owning properties such as houses, cars, plots, flats, and even a restaurant in Bangkok.
Currently, Sharif Mahmud Apu is in hiding, and the ACC has begun investigating his financial assets. However, no formal charges have yet been filed against him.
As these allegations continue to emerge, there is growing demand for legal action to be taken against Apu and his family members.
