Sheikh Golam Mahbub, who is serving as the Secretary of the Bangladesh Law Commission, has recently faced allegations of corruption and irregularities. A report published in October 2024 claims that he was leading a powerful syndicate, which exerted influence over Dhaka’s civil and criminal courts to obtain illegal benefits. It is also alleged that members of his family were involved in this syndicate. Based on these allegations, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started an investigation.
Recently, there have been accusations of irregularities and corruption in various government projects, particularly in the Ashrayan project, which is aimed at distributing homes to the homeless. In several districts, including Bogura, homes were built on private land and distributed to the homeless, which has sparked controversy. Additionally, there have been questions raised about the increased costs of the project.
