Major General Md. Siddiqur Rahman Sarker (Retired), BA-2503, 9th Long Course, was a former Chief Engineer of the Bangladesh Army. He was specially favored by the fascist Awami League government. He was the right-hand man of former Army Chief General Shafiuddin. Siddiqur Rahman looted a huge amount of illegal dollars from major state projects. He is commonly known as ‘Dollar Siddiq.’

Most of the army’s work involved construction, engineer recruitment, river management, highway construction, flyover building, and other tasks assigned by various ministries. Siddiq divided these contracts among a few preferred companies, making billions of taka. It is known that contractors had to pay him in dollars. He managed Sheikh Rehana and Salman to secure the position of Chairman of RAJUK (Dhaka Development Authority).

It is also reported that the notorious Major General Siddiq was appointed as Chairman with the help of his greedy wife Shahin Siddiq, who spent nearly 200 crore taka through former Army Chief General Shafiuddin and authoritarian Sheikh Hasina’s security advisor, Tariq Siddiqi. After Sheikh Hasina’s fall from power, this corrupt General quickly built ties with BNP leaders and started identifying himself as a BNP supporter.

On 19th September 2024, an interim government canceled his RAJUK Chairman contract, but unexpectedly, within just three days, the decision was reversed, and on 22nd September 2024, he was reinstated as Chairman. He is currently conducting public outreach for BNP in the Shibchar area of Narsingdi.
