BA-2182 Major General Rezanur Rahman Khan (Retd), 5th Long Course, former Deputy Director General of RAB, is a staunch loyalist and trusted ally of the authoritarian Sheikh Hasina. He is one of the key figures involved in crimes such as extrajudicial killings, disappearances, and activities related to the “Mirror Room.” He was responsible for ruining the careers of many officials who were not loyal to the fascist Awami League.
During his tenure as the Director General of RAB, on February 25, 2009, under direct instructions and involvement from India, he prevented Lieutenant Colonel Zaman, the commander of RAB-2, from launching a military operation to rescue the detained officers and their families at Pilkhana. This happened despite it being the perfect time to act, as the perpetrators had not yet fully organized. As a result, one of the most brutal massacres in the history of East Pakistan and independent Bangladesh took place at Pilkhana, where 74 unarmed individuals, including 57 army officers, were mercilessly killed.
As a reward, he was rapidly promoted to Brigadier General and then Major General. He also abused his power to extort large sums of money in bribes from top businessmen in the country. He is a hardcore fascist Awami League supporter and a strong opponent of the current interim government.
