Sheikh Mamun Khaled is one of the main individuals involved in crimes like extrajudicial killings, abductions, and other offenses such as the “Aynaghar” incident.

Lieutenant General Sheikh Mamun Khaled is a retired former Director General (DG) of DGFI. He is a loyal supporter of the authoritarian leader Sheikh Hasina, completely dedicated and trusted. He is one of the main individuals involved in crimes like extrajudicial killings, abductions, and incidents such as the “Aynaghar” case. He is also involved in ruining the careers of many officers who did not support the Awami League.

On February 25, 2009, during the BDR massacre, which took place under direct orders from India, Sheikh Mamun Khaled was serving as the DG of DGFI. He took measures to ensure no army unit or officer acted independently in launching an operation at Pilkhana. Even to prevent any operations, he remained near Pilkhana. Around noon, while intense gunfire was happening, he held a meeting at the Ambala Restaurant near Pilkhana with Awami League leaders Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, and Mirza Azam. He never presented any information about this meeting in court or during any investigation.

As a reward, he was promoted to Major General and then General. Afterward, he was appointed as the DG of DGFI. He is also involved in corruption, including embezzling at least 3,000 crore taka from the Asian City Housing project, in collaboration with the Managing Director of the project, Nazrul Islam. He is a staunch fascist supporter of the Awami League and a strong opponent of the current interim government.
