Wahida was reckless on behalf of the government and has many corruption allegations against her. She was a leader of the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Chhatra League and is the niece of Sheikh Hasina’s advisor, Moshiur Rahman. She started as a PS to a state minister and later became a director in the Prime Minister’s Office. After that, she worked as the PS to the Prime Minister for nearly four years before joining the Ministry of Agriculture as an additional secretary. She continued in agriculture after being promoted to secretary.
As Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Wahida Akter mobilized agricultural officials in support of the Awami League government during student protests on August 4. She and her PS attended a so-called peace rally in the capital’s Khamarbari and Maniknagar, organized by the so-called Bangabandhu Agricultural Scientists Council.
Wahida Akter’s frequent foreign trips are also a matter of concern. According to records, last year she visited 11 countries, including six countries from May to December, which clearly violated government guidelines on foreign travel. Between May and December 2023, she traveled abroad six times, and from January to May 2024, she has already traveled five times.
