Lieutenant General Molla Fazle Akbar (retired) is a former DG of DGFI and a loyal and trusted supporter of the dictator Sheikh Hasina. He is the founder of “Ayina Ghor” (Mirror House). He was the first to start the practice of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. He is involved in destroying the careers of many officers who did not show loyalty to the fascist Awami League.
On February 25, 2009, during the BDR massacre, he took steps to prevent any army unit or officer from taking independent action at Pilkhana. He also deployed influential officers from BGBFI around Pilkhana to stop any possible operations. Later, he took steps to destroy evidence related to the BDR massacre at Pilkhana. As a reward for his actions, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. He was deeply involved in organizing the 2014 national election. He is a strong supporter of the fascist Awami League and a staunch opponent of the current interim government.
Retired Lieutenant General Molla Fazle Akbar was made the director general of the DGFI in 2009 , Failed to protect Army officers murder in the BDR headquarter ,Direct Chmcha of Tariq siddique and started to implement the Gum Khun regime under Khuni Hasina .
The Home Ministry of Bangladesh announced that the passports of these officers were being cancelled as they are currently under investigation for disappearing political opponents during the Sheikh Hasina presidency.
The notification further highlighted that there was primary evidence of their involvement in abduction of opponents and the step was being taken to prevent them from leaving the country. Among those mentioned in the list is Fazle Akbar who served as the head of DGFI during 2009 to 2011.
Lieutenant General Molla Fazle Akbar is said to have “backed” Alam and following retirement from service in February 2016, he and his wife were appointed as vice chairmen in one of the banks controlled by Alam.
Lt Gen Akbar is currently holding the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Regent Airways.
